This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!   \n \nDecember’s special guest is 2023 Columbus Blues Challenge solo winner\, Joe Waters. Joe is a multi talented musician out of Dayton Ohio who plays Blues\, Funk\, Folk\, and Americana music. Joe is a singer and a songwriter. He writes original music and he also pays homage to original blues artist by singing old blues standards and deep cuts. His love for playing music started when he was 5 years old after his parents bought him a harmonica from the Cracker Barrel gift shop. Joe dedicated himself to learning not only the harmonica but the guitar\, drums\, and vocals as well. Joe’s father\, Jack Waters\, has been a musician for 35+ years and Joe expresses his gratitude for his father starting him in his music career. As a duo\, Jack and Joe have performed together for 20 years with 4 albums recorded\, they have placed 1st in three local Ohio blues contest\, and they were semi-finalist in the International Blues Contest. Although Joe’s recent focus has been the new EP he is recording with his band\, he still loves to play music with his father any time he can. The new EP\, by Joe Waters and The Back Porch Band\, shows off Joe’s skills as a musician as well as his skills as a songwriter. Other recent events for Joe Waters include winning the 2022 Telluride Blues Challenge which awarded him a spot on the Durango Blues Train and th e opening show of the 2023 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Joe Waters is pouring his creative expression into the EP with his band and a Solo Album that he is excited to share with you all! He hopes to have both the EP and Solo Album done by the end of this year and those who have heard this young man are eagerly awaiting his next creation.  \nDeuce n a Quarter is a celebrated central Ohio based blues band comprised of Andre Scott (drums)\, Martin O. Brown (bass & vocals)\, Keven Jones (keyboard)\, Keith Colbert (guitar) and Brian Peters (lead vocals & harmonica). The band and its members have a list of credits as performing artists and studio musicians. They are two-time Ohio Music Award winners\, two-time Columbus Blues Challenge winners and two-time International Blues Challenge finalists. The band’s forte is its original\, blues-based music where you’ll hear the influence of blues\, country\, soul\, and gospel. They have a long list of noteworthy performances at festivals\, night clubs and music venues…  where they’re always the crowd favorite. \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s Grandview presents Donna Mogavero on Charlie’s Stage as our December happening hour residency every Friday.. For this show\, there will be no admission charge\, but tips are greatly appreciated.  \nDonna Mogavero is a singer/songwriter and professional entertainer. Donnas’ musical recognition of 30+ years began in high school. In the early ‘90’s she was recognized and awarded several Columbus Music Awards in categories of outstanding rock and folk vocalist\, artist deserving higher recognition\, acoustic solo performer and recording artist. \n In the late 1990’s she wrote The Streets Where I Live. This song gave the listener a vivid description of what life looked and felt like in what is now known as “the art district” called The Short North before renovation of the area in early 2000. Shortly after that\, with a little tweaking the song was used by Experience Columbus to promote and market Columbus\, Ohio. She was the first woman Grand Marshall in 2015 for Columbus’s Italian Festival. She had her own Sunday Radio Show called the Acoustic Coffee House on Cd(101) now 92.9 from 1991-’95 and 1998-2000. \nShe recently released her long awaited fourth original Cd The End Of the Drive\,  a compilation of songs that tell many stories flavored in rock\, country\, folk yet signature Donna Mogavero style. After performing at 2017’s Bunbury music festival\, which also featured death cab for cutie and the shins\, they won cd92.9fm’s local artist contest\, were featured by American songwriter magazine\, and opened for spoon\, alvvays\, and the aces. But as was true for many musicians\, the covid-19 pandemic slowed the band’s momentum\, and they chose to focus on writing and recording new music. The result is heirlooms\, the band’s first album of original music since 2019’s it moves in the dark. \nThe album is a change of pace that saw the band collaborate with new audio engineers and cultivate a more modern and energetic approach. Music blog tuned up recognized this in the album’s first single\, “Stubborn Blood”\, saying – “right out of the gate\, I’m struck by the driving nature of the song and the crunch of the guitars. This is somewhat unexpected for Buker\, an americana influenced indie artist that has been prolific in the Columbus scene for years.” The single was accompanied by a music video that pays homage to 80’s slasher films and emphasizes the more aggressive approach to the music. \nHeirlooms’ ten tracks show a different side of Dave Buker and the historians\, at once less organic and more intimate and urgent\, while maintaining the lyrical textures and vocal harmonies that have come to define the band. Check out their website! \nOctober Ember: Sometimes playful\, sometimes poignant\, October Ember is comprised of Jennifer Dutiel and Kevin Holland\, a multi-instrumentalist couple with a penchant for the quirky and the beautiful. A cross-pollination of folk\, indie lounge\, Euro Cafe\, art pop\, and punk cabaret\, their exploration of odd time signatures\, neo-minimalist pulses\, ethereal timbres\, and vast dynamic spectra transmutes ontology into sound. With the wisps of softened reeds\, dreamy guitars\, and intricate percussion\, they paint an aural tapestry for the film of existence.  \nOctober Ember formed in 2017 and launched their first self-titled EP that same year. Intimately real and at times hilarious they exude a contagious charm that guarantees you’ll feel good no matter how haunting the melody or biting the message. They’re a sassy\, smokin’\, bone tremblin’ slow-burn Blues balm. \nThey recently released their new album\, “Keep On!” on Blue Heart Records. This international dynamic duo has been touring around the world together since 2010. This year they were at the prestigious Cognac Blues Passion in France\, Heritage Music Blues Festival as well as Beautiful Swamp Blues featuring Dave Specter. They appeared on Songs at the Center\, were finalists in the International Blues Challenge and can be found often at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago.  \nBorn in Normandy\, France in the early 60’s\, Pascal Fouquet began studying classical guitar at eleven and discovered the Blue note a few years later. Since 1980 he’s been a professional musician and never ceases to give homage to his master teachers: B.B. King\, Albert King\, T-Bone Walker\, Kenny Burrell … and many others. A multi-award-winning guitarist he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great artists including: Diunna Greenleaf\, Dave Specter\, Mike Sanchez\, Steve Clayton\, Russell Jackson\, Candye Kane\, Alex Shultz\, Kid Ramos\, Sax Gordon\, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and Sean Castello.  \nLil’ Red\, born in Columbus\, Ohio in the late 60’s\, grew up loving Hollywood movie musicals especially Bojangles\, Gene Kelly\, Louis Armstrong\, Ella Fitzgerald and the Nicolas Brothers. DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s Grandview presents Donna Mogavero on Charlie’s Stage as our December happening hour residency every Friday.. For this show\, there will be no admission charge\, but tips are greatly appreciated.  \nDonna Mogavero is a singer/songwriter and professional entertainer. Donnas’ musical recognition of 30+ years began in high school. In the early ‘90’s she was recognized and awarded several Columbus Music Awards in categories of outstanding rock and folk vocalist\, artist deserving higher recognition\, acoustic solo performer and recording artist. \n In the late 1990’s she wrote The Streets Where I Live. This song gave the listener a vivid description of what life looked and felt like in what is now known as “the art district” called The Short North before renovation of the area in early 2000. Shortly after that\, with a little tweaking the song was used by Experience Columbus to promote and market Columbus\, Ohio. She was the first woman Grand Marshall in 2015 for Columbus’s Italian Festival. She had her own Sunday Radio Show called the Acoustic Coffee House on Cd(101) now 92.9 from 1991-’95 and 1998-2000. \nShe recently released her long awaited fourth original Cd The End Of the Drive\,  a compilation of songs that tell many stories flavored in rock\, country\, folk yet signature Donna Mogavero style. Sullivan has spent the last few years sober and has used this time as a poignant backdrop for reflecting over a chequered past and having been the forlorn villain of her own story. \n \nBen Clonch— Yellow Springs native\, Ben Clonch brings a fresh yet familiar take on classic Americana and folk. Having worked in the industry for over 15 years\, Clonch is no stranger to the highs and lows of the music scene.
