SUMMARY:Bourbon and Blues: Deuce n a Quarter with Gavin Stroup
DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s\, with support from the Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA)\, presents Bourbon & Blues Happy Hour featuring Deuce ‘n a Quarter. This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!   \nOctober’s special guest is Gavin Stroup\,  a musician since the age of six.  His great grandfather\, Bob Stroup\, was a famous Jazz Trombonist.  He is part of a multi-generational musical family.  Gavin first picked the guitar at the age of six to play in his school’s talent show.   Since then\,  his natural ability and love of music has allowed him to branch out into other instruments such as Mandolin\, Bass Guitar\, Drums and Piano.   His love of all genres of music such as Blues\, Folk\, Americana\, Classic Rock n’ Roll and Bluegrass makes him a well-rounded musician and only at the age of fourteen!   \nYou can catch Gavin on two YouTube Channels and Instagram. Gavin’s Guitar Co.  is his main channel where he talks about all thing’s music\, music tech\, interviews\, and travel.   You can watch Gavin playing music with his family and the Blues Project Gen Blues\, which is destined for the International Blues Competition in Memphis\, TN in January 2024 on YouTube Channel Stroup Family Band.  \nDeuce n a Quarter is a celebrated central Ohio based blues band comprised of Andre Scott (drums)\, Martin O. Brown (bass & vocals)\, Keven Jones (keyboard)\, Keith Colbert (guitar) and Brian Peters (lead vocals & harmonica). The band and its members have a list of credits as performing artists and studio musicians. They are two-time Ohio Music Award winners\, two-time Columbus Blues Challenge winners and two-time International Blues Challenge finalists. The band’s forte is its original\, blues-based music where you’ll hear the influence of blues\, country\, soul\, and gospel. They have a long list of noteworthy performances at festivals\, night clubs and music venues…  where they’re always the crowd favorite. \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. They are an ALL-volunteer corporation depending on the generosity and charity of members to donate their time and energy towards providing programs to support musicians. \nRESERVATIONS: Reservations are strongly encouraged for our free Happy Hour Shows!

DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s presents a special night of music with the return of Such Sweet Thunder\, featuring some of the Midwest’s finest jazz musicians and special guests Sydney McSweeney and Chad Eby\, paying loving tribute to the music of Duke Ellington and his musical partner Billy Strayhorn. This project is a labor of love sparked by Ryan Hamilton and Tony Gayle McClung\, and brought to life by the fantastic musicians they’ve lined up. The band consists of Michael Cox (alto saxophone\, clarinet)\, Chad Eby (tenor saxophone\, clarinet)\, Mark Donavan (baritone saxophone\, clarinet)\, Jim Powell (trumpet)\, Ryan Hamilton (trombone\, arrangements)\, Lucas Holmes (piano)\, Dean Hulett (bass)\, and Tony Gayle McClung (drums)\, and special guest Sydney McSweeney (voice). \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

Alec Wightman\, who was otherwise going to be “in conversation” with Holly\, will share some interesting highlights from PRINE ON PRINE and Parker MacDonell (along with special guest Donna Mogavero) will perform some memorable John Prine songs as he originally planned. Her work has appeared in Rolling Stone\, Los Angeles Times\, New York Times\, Miami Herald\, Musician\, CREEM\, Oxford American\, and NPR Music. The 2019 Country Music Association Media Achievement Award recipient and a SOURCE Hall of Fame inductee\, she created and contributed to Woman Walk The Line: How the Women of Country Music Changed Our Lives\, the 2018 Belmont Book Award winner. She is also the coauthor of Miranda Lambert’s Y’all Eat Yet? She lives in Nashville\, Tennessee. \nAlec Wightman’s passion and knowledge of music\, particularly rock and roll\, runs long and deep\, as revealed in his 2021 memoir\, Music in My Life. By day\, Alec is a partner in the national law firm\, BakerHostetler. But during his free time\, his Zeppelin Productions\, Inc. promotes national act concerts at Natalie’s\, and he’s been doing that since 1995. He’s also a longtime member of the Board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\, where he served three years as Chair.  \nParker MacDonell has been using his original songs\, voice\, and acoustic guitar to communicate with audiences for years.  A veteran of the Los Angeles club scene and college student unions across the United States\, Parker has released four recordings: Miracle on Broad Street with Matt Munhall (2017)\, The Present Tense (2012)\, Looking For You (1985)\, and Home to the Heart (1983).  His two recent recordings are available on Spotify and Apple Music. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the event.
