DESCRIPTION:Ellis Paul doesn’t just write songs; he’s a guitar-carrying reporter who covers the human condition  and details the hopes\, loves\, losses of those he observes\, turning their stories into luminous pieces of  music that get under your skin and into your bloodstream. And much like the artists who have influenced  him\, everyone from Joni Mitchell\, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon to the singer-songwriter who is undoubtedly  his greatest inspiration\, Woody Guthrie\, Paul weaves deeply personal experiences with social issues and  renders them as provocative works that are as timely as they are timeless. Born and raised in Maine\, Paul  attended Boston College on a track scholarship and in the evenings became a fixture on the city’s open  mic circuit. After winning a Boston Acoustic Underground songwriter competition\, he caught the ear of  folk luminary Bill Morrissey\, who produced his indie album Say Something in 1993. This led to a seven album contract with Rounder Records and the 1994 album\, Stories.  \nHis songs have appeared in several blockbuster films (Me\, Myself\, and Irene; Shallow Hal\, Hall Pass) and  have been covered by award winning country artists (Sugarland\, Kristian Bush\, Jack Ingram). Through a  steady succession of albums of his own – a remarkable 23 releases so far – and a constant touring  presence around the world\, Paul’s audience has grown into a loyal legion of fans. Along the way\, he has  picked up an impressive number of awards including the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award\, 15 Boston  Music Awards\, An Honorary Doctorate from the University of Maine\, the 2019 International Acoustic  Music Awards Artist of the Year and most recently his album\, The Storyteller’s Suitcase\, was named the  2019 NERFA Album of the Year.  \nHis new album “55” touches on the necessity of gratitude in a difficult era of the pandemic and divided  political stances on his own imprint\, Rosella Records.  \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. \n

DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s\, with support from the Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA)\, presents Bourbon & Blues Happening Hour. This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!  \nNatalie’s Grandview presents Lil’ Red & The Rooster on Charlie’s Stage. For this happening hour performance\, there will be no admission charge\, but tips are greatly appreciated. Jump-up and shake a tail feather\, or two\, ‘cause Lil’ Red & The Rooster will roll out some smooth retro modern Blues just for you. Intimately real and at times hilarious they exude a contagious charm that guarantees you’ll feel good no matter how haunting the melody or biting the message. They’re a sassy\, smokin’\, bone tremblin’ slow-burn Blues balm. \nThey recently released their new album\, “Keep On!” on Blue Heart Records. This international dynamic duo has been touring around the world together since 2010. This year they were at the prestigious Cognac Blues Passion in France\, Heritage Music Blues Festival as well as Beautiful Swamp Blues featuring Dave Specter. They appeared on Songs at the Center\, were finalists in the International Blues Challenge and can be found often at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago.  \nBorn in Normandy\, France in the early 60’s\, Pascal Fouquet began studying classical guitar at eleven and discovered the Blue note a few years later. Since 1980 he’s been a professional musician and never ceases to give homage to his master teachers: B.B. King\, Albert King\, T-Bone Walker\, Kenny Burrell … and many others. A multi-award-winning guitarist he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great artists including: Diunna Greenleaf\, Dave Specter\, Mike Sanchez\, Steve Clayton\, Russell Jackson\, Candye Kane\, Alex Shultz\, Kid Ramos\, Sax Gordon\, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and Sean Castello.  \nLil’ Red\, born in Columbus\, Ohio in the late 60’s\, grew up loving Hollywood movie musicals especially Bojangles\, Gene Kelly\, Louis Armstrong\, Ella Fitzgerald and the Nicolas Brothers. Rhythm and groove have always been her deep love. She studied everything in the arts: music\, dance\, acting\, writing\, painting\, martial arts and meditation. She graduated from Fort Hayes Performing Arts High School for theater\, holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University.  \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. For many years\, John Schwab has been playing solo gigs and performing with The John Schwab Party Band\, plus doing 40 or so concerts a year as lead singer for the legendary McGuffey Lane. Somehow\, he also finds time to own and operate John Schwab Recording\, the premier original music production studio in Columbus. Between his record label\, jingle production company and booking agency\, the main thing he likes to do is sing and play the guitar! \nDelyn Christian sings each song as if it were his last\, combining raw energy and true soul with every song he performs\, striving to touch the heart and soul of the audience. A singer/songwriter/musician who has been performing in the central Ohio area for over 30 years\, he has relocated to the central Tennessee area and performs in venues in both states. DESCRIPTION:The Trad Nua Celtic Series at Natalie’s is hosted by acclaimed Irish musicians Randy Clepper and Mick Broderick. The series presents a variety of traditional Irish and Celtic acts often juxtaposing old styles with new influences\, local and international artists\, and featuring traditional instruments. Sponsored by the Dublin Irish Celebration. \nWe’re pleased to host Gerry O’Connor – regarded as one of the great fiddle players of his generation. He grew up in Dundalk\, County Louth\, where he was surrounded by a musical family. He took fiddle lessons from his mother\, the great fiddle teacher\, Rose O’Connor. \nGerry won numerous All Ireland titles between 1967 and 1973. He played with John Joe Gardiner in the 1970’s which greatly formed his style; focusing on the fluid\, ornamented\, lyrical fiddling of the great Sligo masters. Gerry’s background in dance provides the influence for his vibrant dance music.  \nGerry has played and recorded with highly regarded groups including Lá Lúgh\, Skylark\, on the Claddagh label. Toured and recorded with members of legendary Irish groups including Planxty\, The Bothy Band\, De Dannan\, Boys of the Lough and The Chieftains. Lá Lúgh’s album\, Brighid’s Kiss was voted album of the year 1996 by Irish Music Magazine\, his solo album\, Journeyman\, was in the top five albums of 2004 by the Irish Times and was counted as a significant milestone recording of the music of the Oriel region of South Ulster. With Nuala Kennedy\, Martin Quinn and Gilles le Bigot\, Gerry released the album Oirialla making the debut at the 2012 Celtic Colours Festival in Cape Breton\, Canada.  \nIn 2018 Gerry was awarded Ceannródai\, the prestigious Bardic Award by Comhaltas for his valued contributions to the Traditional Arts. Also in 2018 he launched is second solo album\, Last Night’s Joy\, and published The Rose in the Gap-Dance Music for Oriel from the Donnellan Collection.  \nGerry is currently touring and has recorded six albums with the celebrated Irish-Canadian group The Irish Rovers.  \nPlaying along with Gerry – Central-Ohio-based Randy Clepper is an in-demand player of the Irish bouzouki\, also tenor banjo\, fingerstyle guitar\, and hammered dulcimer\, who performs with many artists including John Sherman\, Mick Broderick and Bella Issakova. \nRick and Hillary Wagner and Jim’s Red Pants. This duo performs historic American fiddle tunes\, Irish\, Scottish\, and English country dance music as well as original and contemporary folk music on fiddle\, bouzouki\, tenor guitar\, mandolins\, tenor and 5 string banjo\, flute and whistle\, vocals\, piano\, and more. They are located in Dayton\, Ohio and perform at historical events\, libraries\, weddings\, house concerts\, municipal concerts\, pretty much anywhere! In a career that has already spanned a half-century\, Kaukonen has been one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music\, blues\, and Americana\, and at the forefront of popular rock-and-roll. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy nominee\, he is a founding member of two legendary bands\, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna. Jorma Kaukonen’s repertoire goes far beyond his involvement creating psychedelic rock; he is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in music. \nBut performance and recording are only part of the story. As the leading practitioner and teacher of fingerstyle guitar\, Jorma and his wife Vanessa Lillian operate one of the world’s most unique centers for the study of guitar and other instruments. Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch Guitar Camp is located on 125 acres of fields\, woods\, hills\, and streams in the Appalachian foothills of \nSoutheastern Ohio. Since it opened in 1998\, thousands of musicians whose skills range from basic to highly accomplished gather for weekends of master instruction offered by Jorma and other instructors who are leaders in their musical fields. \nAs Jorma’s former road manager and the only manager of his Fur Peach Ranch Guitar Camp\, John Hurlbut and Jorma have been friends since 1984\, and recently celebrated the release of their album The River Flows. Being close friends and neighbors allowed them to do a lot of picking and Jorma loves to step out of the spotlight to provide lead flourishes while backing up John’s signature vocal and rhythm guitar interpretations.  \nIn 2019 St. Martin’s Press published Jorma‘s autobiography\, Been So Long: My Life and Music\, written to express his life both in and out of the music world. DESCRIPTION:At any given time\, you’re likely to find Jim Lauderdale making music\, whether he’s laying down a new track in the studio or working through a spontaneous melody at his home in Nashville. And if he’s not actively crafting new music\, he’s certainly thinking about it. “It’s a constant challenge to try to keep making better and better records\, write better and better songs. I still always feel like I’m a developing artist\,” he says. This may be a surprising sentiment from a man who’s won two Grammys\, released 36 full-length albums\, and taken home the Americana Music Association’s coveted Wagonmaster Award. But his forthcoming album Game Changer is convincing evidence that the North Carolina native is only continuing to hone his craft.  \nOperating under his own label\, Sky Crunch Records\, for the first time since 2016\, Lauderdale recorded Game Changer at the renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville\, co-producing the release with Jay Weaver and pulling from songs he’d written over the last several years. “There’s a mixture on this record of uplifting songs and\, at the same time\, songs of heartbreak and despair—because that’s part of life as well\,” he says. “In the country song world especially\, that’s always been part of it. That’s real life.”  \nLauderdale would know: He’s been a vital part of the country music ecosystem since 1991\, when he released his debut album and began penning songs for an impressively long roster of country music greats. “When I was a teenager wanting to be a bluegrass banjo player\, I never would have imagined that I would get to work with people like Ralph Stanley and Robert Hunter and George Jones and Elvis Costello and John Oates\,” he muses. “Getting to work with them inspires me greatly to this day\, and I know it always will.”  \nFrom rollicking guitar riffs on “That Kind of Life (That Kind of Day)” to the slow\, sweet harmonies of “I’ll Keep My Heart Open For You\,” Game Changer shows off Lauderdale’s ingenuity as a singer\, songwriter\, and producer—while reestablishing him as one of Americana’s most steadfast champions. “Country music is constantly evolving\, but I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for steel guitar and a Telecaster\,” he says. “I have done my job on this record if people who love classic country feel like they can put it on\, or have it in their collection\, and it would fit right in.”  \nRespecting the past doesn’t mean he’s not breaking new ground. “We’re All We’ve Got\,” a co-write with Mary Gauthier and Jaimee Harris\, offers a timely message about healing torn relationships at home and across the world. And “Friends Again\,” a grinning number about rekindling a friendship\, is fresh and forward-looking.
