McMurtry recorded the new album with legendary producer Ross Hogarth (Ozzy Osbourne\, John Fogerty\, Van Halen\, Keb’ Mo’) at Jackson Browne’s Groovemaster’s in Santa Monica\, California\, a world class studio that has housed such legends as Bob Dylan (2012’s Tempest) and David Crosby (2016’s Lighthouse) as well as Browne himself for I’m Alive (1993) and New Found Glory\, Coming Home (2006). McMurtry and Hogarth first worked together 30 years ago\, when Hogarth was a recording engineer in the employ of John Mellencamp at Mellencamp’s own Belmont Studios near Bloomington\, Indiana. Hogarth recorded McMurtry’s first two albums\, Too Long in the Wasteland and Candyland\, for Columbia Records and later mixed McMurtry’s first self-produced album\, Saint Mary of the Woods\, for Sugar Hill Records. DESCRIPTION:After the success of her critically-acclaimed 2021 release Daddy’ s Country Gold\, Melissa Carper\, dubbed “HillBillie Holiday” by friend and collaborator Chris Scruggs\, was eager to get back in the studio. With co-producers Andrija Tokic (St. Paul & The Broken Bones\, Hurray For The Riff Raff) and Dennis Crouch (The Time Jumpers) behind the boards again at Tokic’s analog paradise The Bomb Shelter in Nashville\, Carper assembled that same crew of magical music makers — plus a few more — to embark on her newest effort\, Ramblin’ Soul\, set for release November 18th via Thirty Tigers.\nCarper’s deep\, old-timey music roots were firmly planted as a child\, playing upright bass and singing in her family’s traveling country band in rural Nebraska. Her love of country classics was cultivated as she laid beneath the console listening to her parents’ record collection. Hank Williams\, Patsy Cline\, Loretta Lynn\, Ray Charles\, Elvis Presley\, and more became the soundtrack of her youth. When Carper’s father gifted her a collection of Jimmie Rodgers’ recordings\, she began to find her voice and calling as a songwriter.\nCarper attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a music scholarship\, and spent much of her time in the music library\, instinctively drawn to the great jazz classics and jazz vocalists such as Billie Holiday\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Frank Sinatra\, and Nat King Cole. She also discovered Lead Belly\, uncovering a deep well within when singing his songs. Carper stands firmly on the shoulders of American ramblers\, crooners\, and songsters — the building blocks of her musical foundation. \nAfter two years of college\, wanderlust set in\, and Carper hit the road in the family’s 1980 Dodge Maxi Van\, and landed in historic Eureka Springs\, Arkansas. There\, she was welcomed into the busking community\, and found a new home base — a place to write\, reflect\, and rejuvenate in years to come. As she belted out the lyrics to “Ramblin’ Man” life began to imitate art. Carper put a few hundred thousand miles on her vans and pick-up trucks\, playing the streets and clubs of New Orleans\, Austin\, and even a stint in NYC as a founding member of The Maybelles. Magnetically pulled into the cultural heritage wherever she went\, she immersed herself in the music of those who sang on those same street corners\, and off the beaten path in times gone by. \nAlong the way\, she founded award-winning bands like power trio The Carper Family\, the perfect outlet for her unique skills and style. The band brought her original work to life in a simple yet dynamic fashion that also served her inspirations — country\, bluegrass\, western swing\, and old-style jazz\, playing festivals and shows across the globe\, and on shows like “A Prairie Home Companion.” Carper also holds a spot in award-winning Arkansas foursome Sad Daddy\, and founded roots duo Buffalo Gals with Sad Daddy bandmate and partner\, award-winning fiddler Rebecca Patek. \nIn 2020\, grappling with the loss of regular gigs\, Carper and Patek moved to a friend’s farm near Austin\, working in exchange for housing\, organic vegetables\, and fresh\, country air. The simpler life afforded Carper the space and rejuvenation needed to channel her muse\, and begin writing for her next album. \n“I had a handful of songs about rambling around and living a free life that I wanted to weave through the album\,” Carper recalls. “I wrote the title track driving back home to Texas\, and it felt like the seeds of the next album were planted. I also knew I wanted Ramblin’ Soul to have a different feel than Daddy’s Country Gold\, with more upbeat and diverse styles and grooves.”\nRamblin’ Soul features a co-write with life long ramblin’ buddy and bandmate Gina Gallina\, a song penned by friend and frequent collaborator Brennen Leigh; a reimagined classic from folk pioneer Odetta; and ten Carper originals. The album ventures into blues\, early rock and roll\, and old school soul\, along with Carper’s signature styles of country\, western swing\, and jazz. \nAlbum track “Ain’t a Day Goes By” breaks your heart\, then mends it again in the universal longing for a loved one now gone on. Backed up by Hammond B3 organ (John Pahmer)\, the emotion is punctuated by the gospel-style harmony stylings of Kyshona Armstrong\, Nickie Conley\, and Maureen Murphy. “1980 Dodge Van” heralds pulsing electric guitar and a grooving upright bass (Dennis Crouch) in an ode to the loyal family vehicle\, while “I Don’t Need to Cry” is a Patsy Cline-esque lament showcasing Carper’s classic country range and songwriting finesse. The upbeat\, tongue-in-cheek “Holding All The Cards” transports us to a smoky New Orleans speakeasy\, with wordplay\, honky tonk piano\, and playful clarinet\, while Carper pays an upbeat western swing tribute to her current home state in “Texas\, Texas. Texas.” \nCarper’s lifelong\, steadfast listening has come to fruition in the songs on Ramblin’ Soul. DESCRIPTION:TUNED UP presents the 6th annual Steadfast Music Festival event! 10 acts showcasing in an event celebrating all things Tuned Up and giving back to you\, the Steadfast Fans of the Columbus music scene. Music by 10 artists on two stages\, one night only! \nThis festival will take place at Natalie’s Grandview on both sides of the building including two stages – Charlie’s Stageand Music Hall Stage\, wood-fired pizzas served all night\, and a full bar serving plenty of your favorite local beers and spirits! \nTickets get you into both stage areas – Charlie’s Stage and our Music Hall Stage. Tickets are required to enter the Music Hall Stage and admission to the Charlie’s Stage area is free\, but tips for the bands are strongly encouraged. \nMusic Hall Stage:\n5:40-6:10p – Hightop Hangover\n6:25-6:55p – The Fifth House\n7:10-7:40p – Moony\n7:55-8:30p – blucone\n8:45-9:25p – The Crystal Casino Band\n9:40-11p – JUICE \nThis show is all Standing General Admission. There is also free street parking on Hess Street and Gerrard Avenue.

DESCRIPTION:Since forming in 1988 in Southern California\, Big Sandy and His Fly Rite Boys have become one of the world’s most beloved Americana/ Roots acts\, drawing from the deep musical waters that flow just  beneath the surface of Rock & Roll’s fertile soil. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. And as his personal record collection continues to grow (75\,000 and counting)\, so does the depth of the musical influences that stream through his  songwriting and singing style. A critically acclaimed tribute to Tex Mex hero Freddy Fender\, released at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown\, points the way forward for Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys as they continue on a path of musical growth. After nearly 35 years on the road\, and more than two dozen releases to their credit\, they  remain key figures on the ever-changing Americana circuit\, both on record and in live appearances. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

If you would like to eat before the show\, we encourage you to make a dinner reservation on Resy for our kitchen side of the venue. \n\n\n\nMadame Mira’s passion for burlesque blossomed during her travels to New York City\, as it incorporated her backgrounds in fashion design\, theater\, and jazz. Upon having her travels back to the Big Apple delayed due to COVID-19\, she formed Queen Bee Cabaret as a safe space and outlet for artists to share their talents and have a New York feel in Cincinnati\, OH. Outside of Queen Bee Cabaret\, Mira performs with several other productions\, teaches burlesque and lyra classes\, and collaborates with local businesses and events. The Madame specializes in dazzling crowds with a carefully crafted\, classic style of burlesque. Her combination of costume expertise\, consistent nod to history\, and classic dance and theatre background brings a captivating experience to her audience. She has shimmied across stages in NYC\, all around Ohio\, Indianapolis\, Memphis\, and even as far as Dublin and Cork\, Ireland. \n \nSince making her debut in San Diego in 2017\, Twirlisha Devine has performed\, featured\, headlined\, and competed all over the U.S. and internationally leaving a trail of glitter and fireworks wherever she goes. She was the 2019 Fresh Face Feature for the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival\, the 2019 Master of Funk for What the Funk an All POC Burlesque Festival and has had the honor of performing in the Burlesque Hall of Fame’s VHoF showcases in 2020 and 2021. Recently\, she has headlined Boundless Burlesque in Tucson\, AZ\, the Disabilitease Festival\, and Spellbound Burlesque in Phoenix\, AZ\, as well as performing in Jeezy’s Juke Joint in Chicago\, the Juneteenth Jubilee in Minneapolis\, and Crying at the Disco in Indianapolis to name a select few. This year\, she proudly launched Twirlisha Devine Productions and proudly debuted her Legends & Icons All Black Burlesque weekender starring the legendary Shawna the Black Venus in August. Twirlisha is just warming up and plans to continue throwing her body around on stage for many moons to come. Stay tuned burly lovers … the Burn It Down Bitch of Burlesque is on the rise! \n \nDirty Shirley got her start with Queen Bee Cabaret’s Blooming Burlesque Workshop and hasn’t stopped since!
