SUMMARY:Trad Nua Folk Club Night with Dogwood Road
DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s Grandview presents the Trad Nua Folk Club Night sponsored by the Dublin Irish Celebration featuring Dogwood Road. Tyler Moore (fiddle\, mandolin\, vocals) and Karl Wohlwend (guitar) are both veterans on America’s Irish music scene. As members of the bands Homeland\, Knot Fibb’n\, and Two2Many\, they have toured throughout the US\, playing in pubs\, concert halls and festivals in a dozen states. They can be heard playing on at least 10 full-length CD recordings. Tyler and Karl began playing together in the Ohio-based Two2Many in 2012\, and spun off as a duo act in 2014. Their sound has been described as “modern trad\,” reflecting their ability to bring the wealth of their varied experiences to bear on their approach to traditional music. Dogwood Road has feet firmly planted in the respect for the past\, while at the same time they acknowledge the spirit of today. High energy jigs and reels\, fun arrangements of traditional songs\, and an emerging repertory of original music are all features of a Dogwood Road show. \nAs a companion to the popular Trad Nua Celtic Concert Series at Natalie’s\, Trad Nua Folk Club Night strives to create an evening of Irish and Celtic music in a casual\, “folk club vibe” setting.  Hosted and anchored by acclaimed Irish musicians Mick Broderick and Randy Clepper\, Folk Club Night will feature a rotating lineup including some of the finest players and singers in the Midwest as well as occasional traveling musicians from Ireland.The series presents a variety of traditional Irish and Celtic acts often juxtaposing old styles with new influences\, local and international artists\, and featuring traditional instruments. \nRESERVATIONS: Reservations are strongly encouraged for our free Happy Hour Shows!

Robert is a pianist\, teacher\, and arranger from Columbus who graduated from OSU with a BM in Jazz Studies and a minor in Music\, Media and Enterprise. He has won numerous awards for jazz performance including the Louis Armstrong Award for outstanding musicians while still in high school. He also received several scholarships at OSU including the Atkin Jazz Scholarship\, Tom Battenberg Jazz Scholarship\, and the George and Janice Scantland Jazz Scholarship. DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s\, with support from the Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA)\, presents Bourbon & Blues Happy Hour featuring Deuce ‘n a Quarter. This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!   \nOctober’s special guest is Gavin Stroup\,  a musician since the age of six.  His great grandfather\, Bob Stroup\, was a famous Jazz Trombonist.  He is part of a multi-generational musical family.  Gavin first picked the guitar at the age of six to play in his school’s talent show.   Since then\,  his natural ability and love of music has allowed him to branch out into other instruments such as Mandolin\, Bass Guitar\, Drums and Piano.   His love of all genres of music such as Blues\, Folk\, Americana\, Classic Rock n’ Roll and Bluegrass makes him a well-rounded musician and only at the age of fourteen!   \nYou can catch Gavin on two YouTube Channels and Instagram. Gavin’s Guitar Co.  is his main channel where he talks about all thing’s music\, music tech\, interviews\, and travel.   You can watch Gavin playing music with his family and the Blues Project Gen Blues\, which is destined for the International Blues Competition in Memphis\, TN in January 2024 on YouTube Channel Stroup Family Band.  \nDeuce n a Quarter is a celebrated central Ohio based blues band comprised of Andre Scott (drums)\, Martin O. Brown (bass & vocals)\, Keven Jones (keyboard)\, Keith Colbert (guitar) and Brian Peters (lead vocals & harmonica). The band and its members have a list of credits as performing artists and studio musicians. They are two-time Ohio Music Award winners\, two-time Columbus Blues Challenge winners and two-time International Blues Challenge finalists. The band’s forte is its original\, blues-based music where you’ll hear the influence of blues\, country\, soul\, and gospel. They have a long list of noteworthy performances at festivals\, night clubs and music venues…  where they’re always the crowd favorite. \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. She released her debut single under the name Mukiss in 2019\, titled ‘Bruise Blue’. Since then\, she has released her first EP ‘Happy Face’ in 2020\, and several other singles over the years. Caeleigh is also a member of the Columbus-based indie-rock band Saintseneca. Mukiss’ music can be described as happy-sad songs.\n\nAbout Adam Newman:\nJoin local singer-songwriter and pianist Adam Newman as he performs songs from last year’s Sissy EP as well as songs from his forthcoming album Build A Fire.\nAfter fronting the local band The Gospel from 2000-2006\, Newman found himself in NYC and eventually in Nashville\, working at Blackbird Studios after finishing studying at the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe\, Ohio.\n\nIt was there where the seeds for his 2015 EP Get Out The Dark were planted\, which saw Newman working with legendary producer and engineer Kevin Killen ( Bowie\, Kate Bush\, U2) and guitarist Gerry Leonard (Bowie\, Rufus Wainwright).\n\nFor 2022’s Sissy\, Newman enlisted Keith Hanlon of Secret Studio in Columbus\, OH to handle the recording while enlisting bandmates from his earlier band The Gospel to help bring the songs to life. In November\, he’ll be releasing a new record\, recorded again at Secret Studio\, titled Build A Fire.\n\nAbout Secret Studio:\nLocated in the heart of Franklinton\, Secret Studio is a recording studio\, arts space and concert venue owned and operated by local artists – poet Amy Turn Sharp and musician and audio engineer Keith Hanlon.

Intimately real and at times hilarious they exude a contagious charm that guarantees you’ll feel good no matter how haunting the melody or biting the message. They’re a sassy\, smokin’\, bone tremblin’ slow-burn Blues balm. \n  \nThey recently released their new album\, “Keep On!” on Blue Heart Records. This international dynamic duo has been touring around the world together since 2010. This year they were at the prestigious Cognac Blues Passion in France\, Heritage Music Blues Festival as well as Beautiful Swamp Blues featuring Dave Specter. They appeared on Songs at the Center\, were finalists in the International Blues Challenge and can be found often at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago.  \n  \nBorn in Normandy\, France in the early 60’s\, Pascal Fouquet began studying classical guitar at eleven and discovered the Blue note a few years later. Since 1980 he’s been a professional musician and never ceases to give homage to his master teachers: B.B. King\, Albert King\, T-Bone Walker\, Kenny Burrell … and many others. A multi-award-winning guitarist he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great artists including: Diunna Greenleaf\, Dave Specter\, Mike Sanchez\, Steve Clayton\, Russell Jackson\, Candye Kane\, Alex Shultz\, Kid Ramos\, Sax Gordon\, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and Sean Castello.  \n  \nLil’ Red\, born in Columbus\, Ohio in the late 60’s\, grew up loving Hollywood movie musicals especially Bojangles\, Gene Kelly\, Louis Armstrong\, Ella Fitzgerald and the Nicolas Brothers. Rhythm and groove have always been her deep love. She studied everything in the arts: music\, dance\, acting\, writing\, painting\, martial arts and meditation. Just like Cheap Trick did. Watershed was born at that moment of the bus ride home from the show. Once we learned how to play\, we did get signed to Epic Records and do damn near every single thing a rock n roll band can do. Except have a hit song. It’s quite a tale.   \nIn fact\, you can read all about it in the best selling memoir “Hitless Wonder- A Life in Minor League Rock n Roll” which was released in 2012 and National Public Radio called it one of the two best books of the summer. It rose to #1 on the Amazon music book charts. (!) As of 2022\, Watershed is still recording and playing shows. \n In the meantime\, I also record and perform as a solo artist. Superior- The Best of Colin Gawel is 17 seventeen song compilation of that work. And in 2018 I released the League Bowlers Some Balls Deluxe. The Bowlers play bottom shelf versions of top shelf rock n roll\, both originals and tasty bar room versions of the classics.
