To commemorate the anniversary\, Eric has announced that he will be playing shows all year long\, performing the album in its entirety. He’s also revealed that Sounds Like This will finally be available on vinyl for the first time ever. Furthering the deep-dive into his past\, Eric will also release a new single\, “Sad Songs”\, a forgotten pop tune he wrote and performed regularly on tour in 2008 but never got the chance to record until now. \nToday\, Eric is a seasoned musician and touring artist who’s released eight albums\, performed in all 50 states and experimented with diverse kinds of musical genres like pop\, folk\, reggae\, alternative rock\, and jazz. Still\, more often than not\, Eric says if people are familiar with his music\, they know the songs from Sounds Like This. “I love getting to hear stories from so many people who remember growing up with the music\,” Eric says. “I’ll meet people and they’ll tell me about watching the music video for “Rock & Roll” on VH1 while getting ready for school\, or listening to “Food Chain” on a burned mix CD that an older sister made to celebrate getting her driver’s license\, or singing “Ok\, It’s Alright With Me” in their college a capella group. I’m proud of this album I made many years ago\, but I’m even more gratified by the part my music got to play in so many other people’s lives. DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled from May 30th \nPopa Chubby\, born Ted Horowitz\, has been hard rocking the blues in his fierce and soulful way for more than 30 years. Over the course of a career that dates back to 1994\, he has been a force of to be reckoned with on the guitar\, and his tempestuous\, soulful playing has never been more powerful. An imposing figure with a shaven head\, tattooed arms\, a goatee and a performance style he describes as “the Stooges meets Buddy Guy\, Motörhead meets Muddy Waters\, and Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson\,” Popa Chubby is an endearing character who is one of the genre’s most popular figures. \nHis career has always been about moving forward and carving a place for himself in the imposing terrain of the music business\, overcoming odds to continue growing and maturing as a creative force. He has built a constantly increasing base of fans across the world\, where in many territories he is a star. A native New Yorker\, Horowitz’s first gigs were in the NYC punk scene as a guitarist for what he reflects was a “crazy Japanese special effects performance artist in a kimono called Screaming Mad George who had a horror-movie inspired show.” Right from the start he was immersed in rock ‘n’ roll as theater\, and learned from George and others playing CBGB’s at the time that included the Ramones\, the Cramps\, Richard Hell\, whose band\, the Voidoids he joined\, that rock ‘n’ roll should be dangerous. He reflects\, “Musicians like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols weren’t just bands. They were a threat to society.” \nThe Blues however was the foundation of his playing style. He recalls\, “Since I’d grown up on Hendrix\, Cream and Led Zeppelin\, when I started playing blues in New York clubs I understood that the blues should be dangerous\, too. It wasn’t just from playing in punk bands. Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters were dangerous men. They’d cut or shoot you if they thought it was necessary\, and Little Walter packed a gun and wouldn’t hesitate to use it. That danger is a real part of the Blues and I keep it alive in my music.” \nPopa Chubby is his own man for better or worse. He reflects\, “I’m living in a wild time\, and that is where the inspiration is drawn from. There are my issues\, but the picture is much bigger than me and my situation. SUMMARY:Kieran Kane and Rayna Gellert
DESCRIPTION:Kieran Kane’s seminal work in The O’Kanes and Kane Welch Kaplin\, as well as co-founding the independent label Dead Reckoning Records\, laid the foundation for the contemporary world of Americana music. A successful solo artist\, collaborator\, and songwriter (with songs recorded by Alan Jackson\, John Prine\, Emmylou Harris\, and many more)\, Kieran is a musician’s musician: his playing is always understated\, always groove-oriented\, and always serving the song.\n\nIf Rayna Gellert seems a preternaturally gifted songwriter\, it’s because she’s seen farther into the old songs than most. Growing up in a musical family\, she turned to Appalachian old-time music at a young age\, becoming a prodigious fiddler and leading a new revival of American stringband music through her work with the acclaimed roots band Uncle Earl. An in-demand collaborator\, she has toured and recorded with artists such as Scott Miller\, Abigail Washburn\, Toubab Krewe\, and Robyn Hitchcock.\n\nKieran and Rayna first met\, fittingly\, at San Francisco’s celebrated Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival\, which led to their cowriting songs for Kieran’s solo album Unguarded Moments (Dead Reckoning). They joined forces again for Rayna’s 2017 release\, Workin’s Too Hard (StorySound Records)\, which they also co-produced. Their first duo album\, The Ledges\, was released in February of 2018 on Dead Reckoning Records\, followed up quickly by 2019’s When the Sun Goes Down. \nNow\, in 2022\, this “unlikely musical couple” have released The Flowers That Bloom in Spring\, which finds the duo digging deeper into their exploration of minimalist writing and recording. \nFans of either artist will recognize the musical kindred-spiritedness in their restrained and roots-oriented approach to both songs and arrangements. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

Just like Cheap Trick did. Watershed was born at that moment of the bus ride home from the show. Once we learned how to play\, we did get signed to Epic Records and do damn near every single thing a rock n roll band can do. Except have a hit song. It’s quite a tale.   \nIn fact\, you can read all about it in the best selling memoir “Hitless Wonder- A Life in Minor League Rock n Roll” which was released in 2012 and National Public Radio called it one of the two best books of the summer. It rose to #1 on the Amazon music book charts. (!) As of 2022\, Watershed is still recording and playing shows. \n In the meantime\, I also record and perform as a solo artist. Superior- The Best of Colin Gawel is 17 seventeen song compilation of that work. And in 2018 I released the League Bowlers Some Balls Deluxe. DESCRIPTION:Tommy Prine’s debut album “This Far South” coming June 23\, 2023 is not only a long awaited introduction but a testimony to Prine’s 20’s and the loss\, love\, and growth that has defined them. Co-produced by close friend and kindred musical spirit\, Ruston Kelly\, and beloved Nashville engineer and producer\, Gena Johnson\, the album is rich and dynamic from cathartic jams to nostalgic storytelling.\n\nThe son of late songwriting legend\, John Prine\, Tommy Prine grew up in Nashville surrounded by music\, art and writing. As a child\, he thought all parents were musicians\, as his father “going to work” meant performing shows for adoring fans and writing songs. Tommy learned to play guitar by watching his father play\, copying the ways his fingers moved and inadvertently developing his own singular style. Summers in Ireland lent their own inspiration\, as did 10 straight years camping at Bonnaroo. Prine’s musical tastes grew to become decidedly eclectic\, spanning John Mayer\, Outkast\, Bon Iver\, the Strokes and more.\n\nIt wasn’t until Prine reached his mid-twenties\, though\, that he considered a career of his own in music and began to share with others the songs he wrote in private. DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s is thrilled to welcome Colin Gawel as our November happy hour residency every Friday night on Charlie’s Stage! \nAbout Colin Gawel… \n“I wrote my first song on the back of a paper route book in 6th grade.” – Colin Gawel \nSoon after\, while seeing a Cheap Trick concert\, I convinced my pal Joe Oestreich that we should start a band and get signed to Epic Records. Just like Cheap Trick did. Watershed was born at that moment of the bus ride home from the show. Once we learned how to play\, we did get signed to Epic Records and do damn near every single thing a rock n roll band can do. Except have a hit song. It’s quite a tale.   \nIn fact\, you can read all about it in the best selling memoir “Hitless Wonder- A Life in Minor League Rock n Roll” which was released in 2012 and National Public Radio called it one of the two best books of the summer. It rose to #1 on the Amazon music book charts. (!) As of 2022\, Watershed is still recording and playing shows. \n In the meantime\, I also record and perform as a solo artist. Superior- The Best of Colin Gawel is 17 seventeen song compilation of that work. And in 2018 I released the League Bowlers Some Balls Deluxe. The Bowlers play bottom shelf versions of top shelf rock n roll\, both originals and tasty bar room versions of the classics. DESCRIPTION:Jasmine Spitzer and her quintet present an evening of re-imagined music from some of Disney\, MGM\, and Pixar’s most beloved movies. Bringing new life to songs we all know and love is something Jasmine has always been interested in. What better way to do that than with some of the most recognizable songs ever written? \nJasmine Spitzer was born and raised in Minot\, North Dakota. Her parents and grandparents are both music educators\, and she followed in their footsteps. Jasmine teaches middle school in Columbus City Schools as well as for various Jazz Arts Group’s Jazz Academy programming. She is playing tonight with Jake Smith on saxophone\, Paul Strawser on piano\, Dylan Bretz on bass\, and Jerry Powell on drums. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Birdshack Family with special guest Bobby Floyd (Hammond B3) for a great afternoon of music. Featuring Tony McClung (drums)\, Jeffrey Ciampa (bass)\, and Josh Hill (guitar)\, Birdshack plays modern American music. Call it jazz\, fusion\, Americana\, electronica\, it doesn’t matter. The trio plays well-crafted songs by all three members\, in addition to improvising on a wide variety of material\, including jazz standards\, AC/DC\, John Denver\, The Beatles\, and much more. Adventurous group improvisation that never loses focus is the result.  \nThe passion with which Floyd plays piano\, organ and keyboards are the result of his natural ability discovered at the age of two\, his love of music\, and years of practice. For this Happy Hour show\, there will be no admission charge\, but tips are greatly appreciated. Floyd\, a Grammy nominee in 2020\, will perform with Derek DiCenzo on guitar and bass\, and Reggie Jackson on drums. Members of the group add just the right mix of talent and experience to create the elements necessary to produce an appealing sound that goes well beyond live entertainment. \n  \nThe passion with which Floyd plays piano\, organ and keyboards are the result of his natural ability discovered at the age of two\, his love of music\, and years of practice. DESCRIPTION:Angela Perley makes music for roadtrips across the American heartland. Rooted in cosmic alt-country\, roadhouse rock & roll\, witchy-woman psychedelia\, and amplified Americana\, it’s a vintage sound for the modern world\, glued together by a singer/songwriter who’s played everything from dive bars to arenas.  \nWith Turn Me Loose\, she leans into the rootsy textures that have always underscored her music. Laced with pedal steel\, Telecaster twang\, and Gibson grit\, the album embraces the grey areas between genre and generation\, with Perley breathing new life into her 1960s and ’70s influences. Recorded in her native Ohio\, Turn Me Loose finds Perley building a dreamy world of her own\, writing sharply-detailed songs filled with small towns\, big cities\, and foggy nights pierced by her car’s high-beams.  \n“Plug me in\, turn me loose\,” she sings during the album’s opening track\, which unfolds like a mission statement from a road warrior who’s hungry to hit the highway again. Turn Me Loose hits cruising speed with “Star Dreamer\,” whose chorus of sha la la la‘s nods to the kaleidoscopic swoon of the British Invasion\, then reaches a gallop with “Ripple\,” a country-western track that trades Perley’s midwestern roots for southern stomp. “Here For You” is a personal pep talk — a love song to oneself\, peppered with greasy\, Rolling Stones-worthy guitar — while “Praying For Daylight” and “Wreck Me” conjure up images of Texas dancehalls at closing time\, when the dust from the floorboards turn slow circles in the stage lights. Together\, these songs turn Turn Me Loose into a soundtrack for the road less traveled\, with Perley behind the wheel. \nBefore she shared shows with heavyweights like Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams\, Perley launched her career as the frontwoman of Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons. The group debuted with 2014’s Hey Kid — an underground hit not only in America\, but also overseas\, where the album peaked at Number 6 on the EuroAmericana chart — and returned with 2016’s Homemade Vision\, whose lead single “Electric Flame” became an FM radio hit. Perley continued the momentum with 4:30\, her debut as a solo artist.
