The album will initially be available on CD and at all digital sites\, with 140g translucent blue vinyl LP to follow on September 29.In addition to the new album\, Montoya today announced his coast-to-coast Writing On The Wall Tour\, beginning September 21 in Salt Lake City and moving to Chicago\, New York and Texas with many stops in between. For the very first time on Alligator\, he decided to bring his road-tested band—noted keyboardist and songwriter Jeff Paris (Keb’ Mo’\, Bill Withers)\, bassist Nathan Brown\, and drummer Rena Beavers—into the studio with him. Guests on the album include Lee Roy Parnell\, who adds his well-seasoned slide guitar to the smoldering A Chip And A Chair\, and Coco’s friend\, guitarist Ronnie Baker Brooks (son of late Alligator star Lonnie Brooks)\, on the searing cover of Bobby Bland’s You Got Me (Where You Want Me) and on the droll Baby\, You’re A Drag. Between the camaraderie of the long-time bandmates and the sheer talent of all involved\, the results have Coco feeling\, in his words\, “over the moon.” He continues\, “I am so proud of this one. SUMMARY:The Ocean Blue with Tallies - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:The Ocean Blue arrived as the 1980s drew to close\, and their debut record on the famed Sire Records label in 1989 seemed to summarize the best of the passing musical decade. With the release of The Ocean Blue\, the band of four teenagers from Hershey\, Pennsylvania quickly achieved widespread acclaim and radio & MTV airplay with top 10 Modern Rock/College Radio hits like Between Something and Nothing\, Drifting\, Falling\, and Vanity Fair. They followed their debut with the dreamy and atmospheric Cerulean\, which includes perhaps their most beloved song\, Ballerina Out of Control.\n\nTheir third Sire release and highest charting pop album Beneath the Rhythm and Sound featured the single Sublime\, with a video of the band in the sublime landscape of Iceland. The band’s fourth major label album on Mercury/PolyGram\, See The Ocean Blue\, delved into wider 60s and 70s stylings but with the band’s 80s DNA peeking through.\nThe band left the majors in the late 90s and released several independent records in the ensuing decade\, including 2000’s Davy Jones Locker and 2004’s Waterworks.  In 2013\, after a long hiatus and much anticipation\, the band released their first full length record in a decade\, Ultramarine\, on Korda Records\, a label cooperative the band helped launch that same year. The record was a welcome return for both long-time fans of the band and a younger generation of like-minded fans\, and it garnered widespread praise as one of their very best albums. In 2015\, the band worked with Sire Records to reissue their first three albums on vinyl and did wider touring in North America and in South America\, where some of their most passionate fans reside. \nIn 2019\, the band returned with the beautifully powerful Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves and has continued to tour for this release and the newly re-issued vinyl of See The Ocean Blue (2022) and Davy Jones Locker (2023). \n Food & Bar: A limited food menu of pizza and fries as well as our full bar will be available before and during the show. DESCRIPTION:Dale Watson makes a rare solo appearance to celebrate his latest album Starvation Box\, along with special guest Matt Hillyer. Watson has flown the flag for classic honky-tonk for over two decades. He’s christened his brand of American roots “Ameripolitan” to differentiate it from current crop of Nashville-based pop country. The Alabama-born\, Texas-raised Watson may be the hardest working entertainer today and is rapidly approaching legendary status.  He is a country music maverick\, a true outlaw who stands alongside Waylon Jennings\, Willie Nelson\, and George Strait as one of the finest country singers and songwriters from the Lone Star State. \nIn the late 19th century\, a budding young musician by the name of Huddie William Ledbetter left his home after his father sought to discourage the boy’s artistic ambitions by referring to Huddie’s guitar as a “starvation box\,” cursed to bring only poverty and famine. That young man would go on to have an unimaginably profound impact on music\, becoming internationally recognized as folk blues pioneer Lead Belly. Over a hundred years later\, Lead Belly’s musical lineage continues\, and his story still provides inspiration for artists\, including country outlaw and fellow Texan Dale Watson with his new acoustic album that puts Watson’s own starvation box front and center.  \nOpening the show is Matt Hillyer\, the former lead singer-songwriter for the now disbanded and legendary honky-tonk band Eleven Hundred Springs\, who played countless shows around the world\, released over a dozen albums\, and had become the standard for what a swingin’ Texas country band should be. For Hillyer\, the ending of his beloved band wasn’t the closing of his own musical road. This panel will be an opportunity to hear from musicians about some of the needs to sustain a career in music\, and to hear from key organizations about the resources to support music professionals. \nThe panel will feature insights from MusiCares representative\, Robert Taylor Jr\, who will share their data on the state of wellness in music professionals as well as strategies and resources they offer to support those in the industry. He will be joined by local musicians to be announced as well. \n— \nMusiCares helps the humans behind music because music gives so much to the world. Offering preventive\, emergency\, and recovery programs\, MusiCares is a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community. The Wildwoods’ delicate melodies and descriptive lyrics come from nature\, love\, experiences from the road\, and growing up in Nebraska. \nIn 2016\, 2017\, 2018\, 2021\, and 2022 The Wildwoods were nominated by the Omaha Arts and Entertainment Awards as a top Americana/Folk artist in Nebraska\, and in 2022 they were named “Best Band” by the Lincoln Journal Star’s ‘Lincoln’s Choice Awards’. Caeleigh is also a member of the Columbus-based indie-rock band Saintseneca. Mukiss’ music can be described as happy-sad songs.\n\nAbout Adam Newman:\nJoin local singer-songwriter and pianist Adam Newman as he performs songs from last year’s Sissy EP as well as songs from his forthcoming album Build A Fire.\nAfter fronting the local band The Gospel from 2000-2006\, Newman found himself in NYC and eventually in Nashville\, working at Blackbird Studios after finishing studying at the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe\, Ohio.\n\nIt was there where the seeds for his 2015 EP Get Out The Dark were planted\, which saw Newman working with legendary producer and engineer Kevin Killen ( Bowie\, Kate Bush\, U2) and guitarist Gerry Leonard (Bowie\, Rufus Wainwright).\n\nFor 2022’s Sissy\, Newman enlisted Keith Hanlon of Secret Studio in Columbus\, OH to handle the recording while enlisting bandmates from his earlier band The Gospel to help bring the songs to life. DESCRIPTION:Donna The Buffalo is not just a band\, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989\, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Merle Fest\, and Philadelphia Folk Festival. \nThey’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan\, Del McCoury\, Los Lobos\, Little Feat\, Jim Lauderdale\, Rusted Root\, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. \nIn 1991\, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg\, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15\,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date\, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. Intimately real and at times hilarious they exude a contagious charm that guarantees you’ll feel good no matter how haunting the melody or biting the message. They’re a sassy\, smokin’\, bone tremblin’ slow-burn Blues balm. \n  \nThey recently released their new album\, “Keep On!” on Blue Heart Records. This international dynamic duo has been touring around the world together since 2010. This year they were at the prestigious Cognac Blues Passion in France\, Heritage Music Blues Festival as well as Beautiful Swamp Blues featuring Dave Specter. They appeared on Songs at the Center\, were finalists in the International Blues Challenge and can be found often at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago.  \n  \nBorn in Normandy\, France in the early 60’s\, Pascal Fouquet began studying classical guitar at eleven and discovered the Blue note a few years later. Since 1980 he’s been a professional musician and never ceases to give homage to his master teachers: B.B. King\, Albert King\, T-Bone Walker\, Kenny Burrell … and many others. A multi-award-winning guitarist he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great artists including: Diunna Greenleaf\, Dave Specter\, Mike Sanchez\, Steve Clayton\, Russell Jackson\, Candye Kane\, Alex Shultz\, Kid Ramos\, Sax Gordon\, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and Sean Castello.  \n  \nLil’ Red\, born in Columbus\, Ohio in the late 60’s\, grew up loving Hollywood movie musicals especially Bojangles\, Gene Kelly\, Louis Armstrong\, Ella Fitzgerald and the Nicolas Brothers. DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s is thrilled to welcome Colin Gawel as our November happy hour residency every Friday night on Charlie’s Stage! \nAbout Colin Gawel… \n“I wrote my first song on the back of a paper route book in 6th grade.” – Colin Gawel \nSoon after\, while seeing a Cheap Trick concert\, I convinced my pal Joe Oestreich that we should start a band and get signed to Epic Records. Just like Cheap Trick did. Watershed was born at that moment of the bus ride home from the show. Once we learned how to play\, we did get signed to Epic Records and do damn near every single thing a rock n roll band can do. Except have a hit song. It’s quite a tale.   \nIn fact\, you can read all about it in the best selling memoir “Hitless Wonder- A Life in Minor League Rock n Roll” which was released in 2012 and National Public Radio called it one of the two best books of the summer. It rose to #1 on the Amazon music book charts. (!) As of 2022\, Watershed is still recording and playing shows. \n In the meantime\, I also record and perform as a solo artist. Superior- The Best of Colin Gawel is 17 seventeen song compilation of that work. And in 2018 I released the League Bowlers Some Balls Deluxe. The Bowlers play bottom shelf versions of top shelf rock n roll\, both originals and tasty bar room versions of the classics.
