Robert is a pianist\, teacher\, and arranger from Columbus who graduated from OSU with a BM in Jazz Studies and a minor in Music\, Media and Enterprise. He has won numerous awards for jazz performance including the Louis Armstrong Award for outstanding musicians while still in high school. He also received several scholarships at OSU including the Atkin Jazz Scholarship\, Tom Battenberg Jazz Scholarship\, and the George and Janice Scantland Jazz Scholarship. This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!   \nOctober’s special guest is Gavin Stroup\,  a musician since the age of six.  His great grandfather\, Bob Stroup\, was a famous Jazz Trombonist.  He is part of a multi-generational musical family.  Gavin first picked the guitar at the age of six to play in his school’s talent show.   Since then\,  his natural ability and love of music has allowed him to branch out into other instruments such as Mandolin\, Bass Guitar\, Drums and Piano.   His love of all genres of music such as Blues\, Folk\, Americana\, Classic Rock n’ Roll and Bluegrass makes him a well-rounded musician and only at the age of fourteen!   \nYou can catch Gavin on two YouTube Channels and Instagram. Gavin’s Guitar Co.  is his main channel where he talks about all thing’s music\, music tech\, interviews\, and travel.   You can watch Gavin playing music with his family and the Blues Project Gen Blues\, which is destined for the International Blues Competition in Memphis\, TN in January 2024 on YouTube Channel Stroup Family Band.  \nDeuce n a Quarter is a celebrated central Ohio based blues band comprised of Andre Scott (drums)\, Martin O. Brown (bass & vocals)\, Keven Jones (keyboard)\, Keith Colbert (guitar) and Brian Peters (lead vocals & harmonica). The band and its members have a list of credits as performing artists and studio musicians. They are two-time Ohio Music Award winners\, two-time Columbus Blues Challenge winners and two-time International Blues Challenge finalists. The band’s forte is its original\, blues-based music where you’ll hear the influence of blues\, country\, soul\, and gospel. They have a long list of noteworthy performances at festivals\, night clubs and music venues…  where they’re always the crowd favorite. \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. Reservations are highly recommended for this free show!\n\nAbout Mukiss:\nMukiss is the dreamy solo project of Caeleigh Featherstone. She released her debut single under the name Mukiss in 2019\, titled ‘Bruise Blue’. Since then\, she has released her first EP ‘Happy Face’ in 2020\, and several other singles over the years. Caeleigh is also a member of the Columbus-based indie-rock band Saintseneca. Mukiss’ music can be described as happy-sad songs.\n\nAbout Adam Newman:\nJoin local singer-songwriter and pianist Adam Newman as he performs songs from last year’s Sissy EP as well as songs from his forthcoming album Build A Fire.\nAfter fronting the local band The Gospel from 2000-2006\, Newman found himself in NYC and eventually in Nashville\, working at Blackbird Studios after finishing studying at the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe\, Ohio.\n\nIt was there where the seeds for his 2015 EP Get Out The Dark were planted\, which saw Newman working with legendary producer and engineer Kevin Killen ( Bowie\, Kate Bush\, U2) and guitarist Gerry Leonard (Bowie\, Rufus Wainwright).\n\nFor 2022’s Sissy\, Newman enlisted Keith Hanlon of Secret Studio in Columbus\, OH to handle the recording while enlisting bandmates from his earlier band The Gospel to help bring the songs to life. In November\, he’ll be releasing a new record\, recorded again at Secret Studio\, titled Build A Fire.\n\nAbout Secret Studio:\nLocated in the heart of Franklinton\, Secret Studio is a recording studio\, arts space and concert venue owned and operated by local artists – poet Amy Turn Sharp and musician and audio engineer Keith Hanlon.
